Christchurch Engine Centre (CHCEC) was formerly Air New Zealand Christchurch engine overhaul section which, among other programmes, began full support of the Dart when the former National Airways Corporation introduced Vickers Viscount aircraft powered by Dart RDa6  Mk510 into New Zealand domestic service in 1958. NAC then added the Fokker F27 in 1960.  A fleet of more than 30 aircraft of various F27, BAe 748, Argosy and Andover types was eventually supported into the 1990's covering all marks of  Dart RDa7, 10 and 12 from 529-8X to -552.

Full MRO support is now provided for RDa7, RDa10 and RDa12 engines. With the formation of the CHCEC in April 2001 as the Pratt & Whitney Air New Zealand Services partnership we are further committed to enhanced Dart support and a full service of repair, overhaul, modification, conversion and test for most models.

CHCEC is now one of the top two RR Dart  MRO centres in the world and has a policy of remaining in Dart support long term.
