Pratt & Whitney and Air New Zealand Ltd began this joint venture in April 2001, to provide engine overhaul and repair services for all Pratt & Whitney JT8D, Rolls-Royce Dart and International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500 engines. This overhaul and repair facility operates under the trading name of Christchurch Engine Centre (CHCEC) and is located on the eastern edge of the Canterbury Plains in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand.
Christchurch Engine Centre integrated support services include:

· V2500-A1, -A5, -D5
· JT8D-Standard
· JT8D-200
· Dart RDa7, 8 and 10
· APU test facility for GTCP85 and GTCP95
- Comprehensive services include non-destructive testing, a full plating shop and plasma metal spray applications.

This partnership builds upon the success of the existing Air New Zealand Christchurch engine facility, which has been attracting third party work from around the world for more than 25 years. As a former airline engine shop, this operation is market responsive and specifically customer focused. Customers are consistently pleased with Christchurch's fully equipped 727, 737 -200 to -800 and 767 aircraft maintenance facility, a virtual one-stop shop for airframe, engine and component repair. The Centre understands that the transport of parts and engines is important to customers and has a capable team to provide a variety of rapid transport options. Christchurch Engine Centre has FAA and EASA certification for JT8D and Dart and holds national CAA approvals from nine other countries along with ISO 9001:2000 accreditation. See Quality Assurance
