NEWSBRIEF: Pratt & Whitney and Aviation Fleet Solutions Noise Reduction System for JT8D-200 Powered MD-80 Receives FAA Certification. Click here for an update. Pratt & Whitney together with Aviation Fleet Solutions (AFS), received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification on the QuietEagle, the noise reduction system for JT8D-200-powered MD-80 aircraft. The system meets all the requirements of FAR Part 36 Stage 4 and International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Annex 16 Chapter 4 noise standards, which became effective Jan. 1, 2006.
