Christchurch Engine Centre (CHCEC) began full MRO for the JT8D-Standard (i.e. the JT8D-7B through to the -17AR) in 1968 as Air New Zealand Engineering.
We developed high skill levels and detailed experience through being part of the Air New Zealand National 737-200 fleet operation for more than 30 years, and providing full heavy maintenance support of the Royal New Zealand Air Force 727-100C fleet for more than 20 years. As customers come from Asia, the Americas and Australasia to the Air New Zealand Engineering Christchurch one-stop shop for full 737 and 727 support, the CHCEC is always alongside ready with full JT8D service.
Since 1990 we have expanded further to become one of the JT8D contractors of choice for some of the world's top passenger and freight airlines in the US, Asia and Europe.
In April 2001, the engine overhaul business at Christchurch International Airport was transferred to the Pratt & Whitney Air New Zealand partnership and trading as "Christchurch Engine Centre" we continue the tradition of excellence in JT8D and Dart support for customers worldwide with the same principles and customer care that have already made it a success.
Extensive in-house repair capability means we control our overhaul process. A full staff training school for JT8D and other engines is on site.
